Lemoyne F. Blackshear, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, honored as School of Architecture and Planning 2024 Distinguished Alumni

We have the great pleasure of honoring Lemoyne F. Blackshear (M.Arch 1991) as the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award in Architecture recipient.
Before joining the Library of Congress in 2016, she served as an Air Force officer in a variety of positions, including Civil Engineer Branch Chief. She entered the Air Force in 1981 as a graduate of the University of Virginia ROTC program. She concluded her active-duty career as the Civil Engineer Group Commander, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, retiring in the rank of colonel. She was honored to receive the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Legion of Merit for her service. After retiring from the Air Force, Lemoyne served as Staff Architect, State of New Mexico, General Services Department, 2007-2012. In 2012 she accepted the position as Chief of the Facility Operations Unit with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, in Washington, D.C. There she was responsible for the J. Edgar Hoover Building, Headquarters FBI, supporting 5,000 people in 2.4 MSF. In 2015, she accepted the position as Chief, Facility Services Division, Integrated Services Directorate, Library of Congress, supporting 3,000 people in 5 MSF, including Food Services, Custodial Services, and Tenant Fit-out Design & Construction, and the Historic Thomas Jefferson Building, James Madison Memorial Building, John Adams Building, and Packard Campus.
Lemoyne was recently honored as a recipient of the 2024 Library of Congress Awards. She recently announced her retirement from Public Service and will shortly be returning to New Mexico to enjoy the fabulous State Park System by camping at each park. She is the past president of the New Mexico Unit of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International Airstream Club. We thank Lemoyne for serving our country and for her leadership work.
