UNM Landscape Architecture took Park(ing) Day to the Bands of Enchantment Street Festival

Our amazing LA505 class of 2026 brought a design for a 10'x20' parking space titled "Slightly Feral."
The "Park," an 8' x8' x8' wood beam cube, featured a laser cut paper ceiling with stenciled leaves which cast shadows onto triangular planters holding red branch trees with grasses and woody shrubs. Festooned with lanterns and articulated by benches, festival attendees appreciated the space to sit and eat meals, chat with friends and family, and listen to music. Students danced in the streets and got a chance to see how important public parks, even small ones, are! We are so grateful for sponsorship from Bands of Enchantment that made the purchase of building materials possible and Plant World's loan of plants.
