    Karen J. King is a registered architect and an architectural educator at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture & Planning where she teaches design studio in both the undergraduate and the graduate programs. She specializes in architectural design, believing that critical thinking leads to built environments which enrich all our lives – and that good design is inclusive, desiring the range of human experience. Prior to teaching at the University of New Mexico and beginning a collaborative practice, she practiced with design firms in Albuquerque, Phoenix and Austin. She is the co-editor and author of the "Inclusive Design Chapter" for the 11th Edition of Architectural Graphic Standards, with Rebecca Ingram. Her other writings include “Meeting the Minimums and Missing the Point.” She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from the University of Denver and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia.
