UNM Architecture Associate Professor Nora Wendl has been named Executive Editor of the Journal of Architectural Education

From ACSA:

Nora Wendl, Associate Professor of Architecture in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of New Mexico, has been named the incoming Executive Editor of the ACSA’s Journal of Architectural Education. Her term will begin in July 2021 and continue through October 2024. Wendl previously served on the JAE Editorial Board from 2014 to 2017.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Marc Neveu this year to become more familiar with the work of the Editorial Board,” Wendl shared, regarding her appointment. “I see the next few years as an opportunity to expand our reach by engaging our online platforms, and experimenting with how we present peer-reviewed architectural research in almost unprecedented times.”

Wendl’s research focuses on reframing the narratives of architectural history by challenging conventional historiographic practices and modes of authorship. She has published articles in 306090, Architecture and Culture, Forty-Five, Journal of Architectural Education, Offramp, On Site: Review, Studies in the History of Gardens and Designed Landscapes, and Thresholds. Most recently, her research has been supported by the Santa Fe Art Institute, where she was Artist in Residence in 2018, and the Graham Foundation, for the current exhibition Edith Farnsworth Reconsidered, which presents the Dr. Edith Farnsworth House (Mies van der Rohe, Plano, Illinois, 1951) as it was initially inhabited by Farnsworth, an innovative nephrologist, poet, and translator. Her research has been featured in The Chicago Tribune, Architectural Forum, Southwest Contemporary, and GRAY, and she has exhibited and lectured widely.

Lynne Dearborn, PhD, AIA, ACSA President welcomes Professor Wendl on behalf of the ACSA Board of Directors and notes that Wendl “joins a journal that has thrived under Marc Neveu’s leadership. The JAE has expanded its online reviews, and the print issues capture relevant issues affecting the discipline today. ..
