TPT Professional Development Grants
Call for Proposals: Professional Development Grants for TPT Faculty
UNM School of Architecture & Planning
The University of New Mexico School of Architecture & Planning (SA&P) is pleased to invite proposals from our TPT faculty for Professional Development Grants. These grants are intended to support the many ways our TPT faculty grow as educators, practitioners, designers, and members of the academic and professional communities. These grants are an opportunity to support your continued professional and pedagogical development and while strengthening the connections between your work and the School.
Individual grants will range from $500 to $1,500, with up to $6,000 available for disbursement each year.
What Can the Grants Support?
Funding may be used for a wide range of professional and pedagogical development activities, including, but not limited to:
- Conference registration, participation, and travel to present pedagogy-related outcomes or projects
- Workshops, trainings, or continuing education for curriculum or assignment development
- Teaching resources
- Pedagogical conferences or workshops to support your teaching at SA&P
- Professional certifications or memberships
- Materials, software, or other resources that support professional or educational work
- Development or presentation of pedagogical/educational or professional projects
- Other activities that contribute meaningfully to your teaching and supporting students
What to Include in Your Proposal
Please submit a proposal that includes the following as one PDF.
1. Professional Biography: 150 words
Provide a brief biography highlighting your professional background, current teaching and/or practice, and areas of professional interest.
2. Description of Proposed Use: 250–300 words
Describe how you would use the grant funds and how the proposed activity will support your professional development. Please address:
- What you would like to do or purchase with the funds
- Why this opportunity is important to your professional development
- What you hope to learn, accomplish, or gain from the experience
- How the experience might enrich your teaching, practice, research, creative work, or other contributions to SA&P
3. Budget Proposal and Supporting Links
Provide a clear budget showing how you would use the requested funds. Please include links or other supporting information for proposed expenses whenever possible, such as conference registration, travel, workshops, memberships, software, or other costs.
Requests should be between $500 and $1,500. If your project exceeds this total, highlight the piece of the project that the $500 to $1,500 is intended to support.
4. Sharing with the SA&P Community
Each semester, the SA&P will host a lunch where all faculty who received support through this fund will briefly share their projects and experiences.
Review Process
Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of SA&P colleagues. The panel will consider the clarity and feasibility of the proposal, its potential to support the applicant's professional development, the reasonableness of the proposed budget, and the ways in which the experience may contribute to the broader SA&P community. Because the available funding is limited, applicants are encouraged to clearly articulate what this support would make possible for them at this particular point in their professional development.
Funding Available
Individual awards will range from $500 to $1,500, with up to $6,000 available for disbursement each year. Awards will depend on the number and quality of proposals received and the availability of funds.
We hope these grants will provide meaningful support for the continued growth of SA&P's non-full-time faculty and recognize the important professional experiences, knowledge, and perspectives you bring to our students and our School.
