How to support SA+P

Each year, the School of Architecture and Planning depends on private gifts to maintain its tradition of educational excellence. Every gift makes a difference and changes lives for our students, faculty and the program. Gifts to the program promote an ongoing investment in students, faculty and educational programs. See the list below for ideas on how to give. For more information, please contact Keith Greer, the School’s Development Officer at (505) 277-5885. We appreciate your support.

Give to the Dean's Fund

Other Ways to Give

Specific Funds

Through specific funds listed on our website, as well as the UNM Foundation, you can choose where you want to have the most impact. From contributions to lectureship funds or student scholarships, know that each individual fund serves a different purpose at the school and each donation matters. Private donations provide increased access and opportunity for our students both in and out of the classroom.

Make an Annual Gift

Annual giving has a significant day-to-day impact on the School of Architecture + Planning. These funds allow the dean or an academic program director to direct resources to the areas of greatest need and support unexpected opportunities.

Annual funds may be used to purchase equipment, enhance studio activities and support student field trips and conferences.  Annual gifts ensure that students receive a rich and meaningful educational experience.

Create an Endowed Fund

An endowment is a permanent fund that generates income each year. An endowment can honor a person or a company, or can honor the memory and life of a loved one. Once an endowment is established and fully funded, it provides funds every year to support the stated purpose of the endowment. For example, a faculty position could be named the“ABC Company Professorship” or the “John Q. Public Memorial Travel Endowment.” Endowment funds may support:

  • Students, scholarships and student organizations
  • Faculty through endowed chairs, professorships or visiting professorships
  • Programs, lectures, or studios
  • Faculty-directed student travel

Make a Bequest

A bequest is a gift made through a will. Bequests ensure the future long-term success of the School of Architecture + Planning and do not affect your assets today.

Designate the SA+P as the Beneficiary of Life Insurance

You can name the UNM Foundation as the owner or beneficiary of a new or an existing policy. The proceeds of the policy can be used to create an endowment.

Establish a Charitable Gift Annuity

An annuity is a contract between a donor and a nonprofit organization. The donor transfers cash or property to the UNM Foundation in exchange for a partial tax deduction and a lifetime stream of annual income. When the donor passes away, the charity keeps the gift. The amount of annual income is determined by many factors including the donor's age.

Donate Appreciated Stock or Real Estate

You may donate stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have increased in value to the School of Architecture + Planning. The UNM Foundation also accepts gifts of personal residences, ranch or farm land, or investment property.
