The University of New Mexico is unique in many respects, offering splendid opportunities for students from across the nation and other countries. Because of our relatively small size and unparalleled context, the School of Architecture and Planning at UNM provides considerable “one-on-one instruction” with a focus on individual needs and interests.

As the single provider of programs in architecture, landscape architecture, and planning in New Mexico, the School’s relationships with its public and professional constituencies greatly enhance the student’s understanding of the complexities and issues that inform design, planning, and practice. We also value the role that our assistance with both summer and career job placement has in complementing the academic programs of study.

Our ability to utilize the Albuquerque - Santa Fe metropolitan area, as well as the state and Southwest region of the US and northern Mexico as a laboratory provides an unparalleled resource for instruction and research endeavors in our three professional degree programs and graduate certificate programs in Town Design and Historic Preservation & Regionalism.

We are privileged to be housed in one of this country’s most distinguished and pre-eminent facilities for design and planning studies. Completed in 2008 and designed by AIA Gold Medal Recipient Antoine Predock, FAIA (an alumnus of this School), Pearl Hall provides a tremendous learning environment while also serving as the principal landmark/gateway for the UNM campus on Historic Route 66.

As you visit the School’s web site, I hope you will think seriously about a visit to the University of New Mexico, or perhaps a longer stay!
