Our Landscape

The sublime New Mexico landscape, with its breathtaking natural beauty and its fascinating cultural history, provides an ideal climate in which to live and learn. The University of New Mexico occupies 600 acres along old Route 66 in the heart of Albuquerque, a city of 600 thousand people.  From the magnificent mesas to the west, past the banks of the historic Rio Grande to the Sandia Mountains in the east, Albuquerque is a dynamic cultural and natural landscape.  UNM offers a campus environment with a unique architectural style and a nationally recognized Campus Arboretum.
